A new A1B ('middle of the road') emission scenario ensemble for Canada has been released on CCCSN for the 3 future periods (2020s, 2050s and 2080s). It contains all available AR4 models (24) and provides not only the all-model mean for temperature and precipitation, but also the all model standard deviation value for each grid cell over Canada at the annual and seasonal scale. End-users were asking about model uncertainty in addition to model mean values. The provision of model standard deviations for each cell indicate the degree of agreement between models. Areas with larger deviations identify where model projections vary to a greater degree. This product is located under the 'Ensemble Scenarios' left menu.

The 'Localizer' is a new tool to CCCSN which provides a quick way of determining the multi-model mean projected change of temperature and precipitation on a monthly and greater timescale for hundreds of locations across Canada. One simply has to enter their town or postal code which is then checked against the extensive Environment Canada network of observation stations to determine the closest station location for the period of 1971-2000. A summarized report is then generated which can be saved as a PDF file for download. Access the tool from the main page and visualization page. We welcome your feedback on the feature: feedback@cccsn.ca
